Personality is one’s set of stable, predictable, emotional and behavioral traits. Disorders occur when such traits are deeply ingrained, inflexible patterns of relating to others that deviate from the cultural norms. Onset is in adolescence or early adulthood and stable. Maladaptive behaviors cause impairment in social or occupational functioning. Lack insight into their problems are the major problem of personality disorder.
